My name is Anders James McGrane Lee. I am a Writer, Podcaster, Comedian, Organizer and 2 Time Watermelon Seed Spitting Champion.
I was born in Washington D.C. and split my youth between Arlington, VA and Saint Paul, MN. I am based in New York City, my favorite place in the world and the home of my Irish-American roots. On the other side, I am Norwegian which is where I get the odd name.
I studied filmmaking at Minneapolis Community Technical College, Theater/Politics at The New School and Clowning at Ecole Philippe Gaulier.
From 2019-2022 I worked as a Correspondent on the political satire show, Redacted Tonight. I got to write, perform and help edit segments on topics ranging from war to climate change to the history of the board game Monopoly. It was on the now defunct RT America network, which did technically make me a Russian asset. I am not a supporter of Vladimir Putin however.
Since 2017, I have been a Co-host and Producer of the Pod Damn America podcast. We interview knowledgeable guests, have lively discussions on current events and do historical deep-dives from a comedic, left-wing perspective. The podcast goes out twice a week to roughly 10,000 listeners.
In addition to a Russian asset, I am also technically on the autistic spectrum. I was diagnosed as a little kid, but don’t find “autism” to be a helpful term or concept for reasons I’ve written about here.
I have a solo show called Dummy in which I explore not only my experiences with the subject, but the broader history of the autism diagnosis itself.
Dummy has been featured twice at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where, in 2018, it received 2 four-star reviews. Additionally, excerpts have been featured at The Moth and Story Collider.
